11,800 attend the first-ever IE Food Truck Fest

Saturday, June 18 at Citizens Business Bank Arena

ONTARIO, Calif. – On Saturday, 55 gourmet food trucks made the trek from Los Angeles and Orange County to serve up their latest creations to the locals of Inland Empire. IE Food Truck Fest took place at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario where 11,800 food enthusiasts visited the inaugural event throughout the day.

While attendees had the opportunity to try an eclectic assortment of flavorful cuisine served up on wheels, the festival also offered a variety of entertainment. Active Ride Shop and Syndicate Roller Girls took turns showing off their skating skills. Local bands Handsome Lake, Francisco The Man, The New Limb, 3rd Degree, Jessarae and Honeymoon Truckstop took the stage. The children’s area featured Ringling Bros. giving away goodie bags and hats, the City of Ontario hosting a pie eating contest and cake walk, sand art provided by Green Artworks, face painting and more interactive booths. Also, a rock climbing wall helped attendees work off some of those good eats during the fest.

The community event brought awareness to the huge gourmet food truck movement that hit the streets of SoCal in the past two years. The amount of people who attended the fest shows how responsive the community is to food trucks and how they are wanted in the area. IE Food Truck Fest allowed fans to vote on their favorite trucks and at the end of the event, trucks were awarded with certificates.

From Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race contestants Nom Nom and Crepes Bonaparte to your favorite comfort food on wheels like The Grilled Cheese Truck and those party-goers White Rabbit Truck, known for their 6lb burrito eating challenge, IE Food Truck Fest is brought a diverse palate of cuisine for those food enthusiasts in the area. More trucks to note included The Lime Truck and Seabirds, both whom will be on the next season of Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race, and Suite 106 Cupcakery who had rented a truck just for the event. A few milestones include the debut of Filipino fusion truck Pogi Boy and the brand new Slap Fish (sold 600 of Lobsticles) both experiencing their first festival.

Spotlighting the gourmet food truck movement that has exploded over this past year, the festival is celebrating this new style of street food to the untapped community of the Inland Empire. As you may or may not know, gourmet food trucks are prohibited to roam the streets of San Bernardino County. The one-day festival is a solution to provide an experience many people have only heard about.

The IE Food Truck Fest was meant to showcase the delectable cuisine that has rolled out on our SoCal streets in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. With a diverse mix of 55 gourmet food trucks gathered at the Citizens Business Bank Arena, the community was able to experience several epicurean delights all at one location.

In addition to featuring these mobile eateries, the even also had a variety of entertainment, including skate demos provided by Active Ride Shop and Syndicate Roller Girls, live local music, activities for children, local businesses, free Popchips, free Fuze drinks, My Delight Bakery, rolling bars, a VIP area, rock wall, plus giveaways from Verizon Wireless, Yelp LA, Welk Resort and others.

The IE Food Truck and Brew Fest will showcase the delectable cuisine that has rolled out on our SoCal streets in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. With a diverse mix of 50 gourmet food trucks gathered at the Citizens Business Bank Arena, the community can experience several epicurean delights and taste some of the local breweries specialties all at one location.

In addition to featuring these mobile eateries and local breweries, there will be a Hockey demo provided by Ontario Reign and LA King, live local music and DJs, activities for children, giveaways and much more.

The one-day event is expected to bring an attendance of 10,000 to 14,000 people. The audience will range from families and food enthusiasts to young 20-somethings and social media advocates. Citizens Business Bank Arena is proud to announce the 500 VIP Tickets for the upcoming IE Food Truck and Brew Fest are sold out! “This is an indication of how excited the community is for the second Food Truck Fest at our Arena” said Steve Eckerson, General Manager. Last June over 11,600 people attended the first IE Food Truck Fest at Citizens Business Bank Arena leaving several requests to know when the next one was planned. “Why wait for an annual event? – we started planning the next one right away” Eckerson said.

Tickets are $10 at the door for general admission, $8 in advance, Children 6 and under are free. The IE Food Truck and Brew Fest will be held in Parking Lot F, located on the west side of the Arena. Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster.com or at the Citizens Business Bank Arena Box Office. Parking is free.

Ontario Reign vs. Las Vegas Wranglers pre-season hockey game on October 8 is scheduled for 6pm. A special Trucks and Pucks ticket package can be purchased in advance for only $14 which provides admission to the IE Food Truck and Brew Fest plus entrance to the hockey game that evening. Advance tickets must be purchased by October 5 at midnight.

Do you enjoy a good hot dog? Well, do we have a truck for you. They don’t make you’re average hot dog, that’s the thing. This gourmet food truck (#GFT) adds the most unique ingredients to the standard dog. DOGZILLA has been added to the lineup of trucks to be at Citizens Business Bank Arena this Saturday!

Also, get your VIP Early Admission tickets ($25) while they last. After 500 VIP tickets are sold we will not sell any more so get them now! IE Food Truck Fest combines great cuisine served up on wheels, local music, skate demos by Active Ride Shop and Syndicate Roller Derby, local businesses and family fun. The kids area features the following activities:

* Kids can learn about herbs and veggies with an arts and craft project to pot live plants at the Home Depot Clinic booth.

* The City of Ontario is bringing several elements to the kid’s area, including carnival games, a sports center (where kids can test their skills in basketball, baseball, football and hockey), a fitness zone (specializing in fitness equipment for younger children ages 3 to 6), arts and crafts, and contests.
